Commack Launches Star Award To Recognize Staff
In order to celebrate our amazing staff who goes above and beyond each day, we are starting a new tradition, the Commack Star Award. Each month we will recognize staff members who make outstanding contributions in their field of work. Congratulations to our inaugural Star Award winners, Lindsey Persichilli, Jessica Scott and Dr. Heather Leggio.
Lindsey is an enrichment teacher at Sawmill and has consistently engaged in professional development focused on STEM and engineering. Lindsey’s positive attitude and her enthusiasm for hands on learning has made her a student favorite and you can often see swarms of kids participating in lunch and learn.
This past year, Jess and Heather brought life back to LISPAN, an organization founded by local school psychologists and support staff. In addition to her work with LISPAN, Heather takes on leadership roles within her department and in our school. She is always willing to be a part of initiatives and is a team player in the problem solving that happens on a daily basis. This year, Heather was named NYS Association of School Psychologist’s Psychologist of the year for her work in Crisis Response.
Jess is relied upon to support our students in times of crisis, as well as a tremendous support to the administrative team and her mental health colleagues. She is wholeheartedly trusted in her recommendations and this year she will be transitioning to a new role as the Social Worker at the Cedar Road Alternative School.
Congratulations to our Star Award Recipients!
