Maura Palillo Presented With Commack Star Award
November's Star Award winner – Commack High School Science Teacher, Maura Palillo!
Maura is a Science Teacher at Commack High School and goes above and beyond for her students each and every day. Maura's passion for teaching is second to none. She is a true team player who emits such positive energy. She is willing to go out of her comfort zone to implement the most recent practices in education and the new science standards. Maura gladly volunteers for projects to propel science forward and approaches them with enthusiasm.
Lead Teacher of Science, Charlie Guercia stated “Maura puts 100% into every lesson and truly cares for her students. She relates to her students and makes the classroom a place of comfort for them, but also holds them accountable to a high standard, whether it's her IB biology or earth science class.” While Director of Science Laura Longo stated, “Maura is a great unspoken mentor for her colleagues. She is aware of any struggles they are having and offers guidance with an aura of calmness and reassurance. In the short time I have come to know Maura, it has been a pleasure to work with her!
Maura is kind, passionate, and dedicated to the students and staff for Commack. She truly exemplifies all of the qualities of a Commack Star. Congratulations Maura!
