Laura Rizzo and Rich Suchopar Win Commack Star Award
Our two Commack Star Award recipients for the month of October are Laura Rizzo and Rich Suchopar.
Laura is an integral part of Commack School’s success in her role as a Network and Systems specialist. She works tirelessly behind the scenes to support the District’s computer networking systems as well as the phones, Chromebooks, servers, and so much more. Laura is such an important part of our community that she was nominated multiple times! Laura consistently goes above and beyond in her role making sure that all staff feel supported, in fact there are many nights and weekends that Laura spends researching and trying to problem solve for the staff. Assistant Principal of CHS, Eric Biagi, stated “She is most certainly one of the hidden gems of the district!” We are so grateful and lucky to have someone as amazing as Laura Rizzo as part of our staff.
Rich Suchopar could very well be considered one of the faces of Commack High School. He keeps busy not only as a Social Studies teacher, mentor, and colleague but also serves as co-advisor of Student Life. You can find Rich dressed up for spirit week, calling names at graduation, running events or hanging out with Mack the Cougar. To say that he is involved in the school and community is an understatement.
Rich’s nomination is a unique one as it was not only by a colleague, but by a colleague whose daughter was lucky enough to have Rich as a teacher. Keri Cestaro stated “Mr. Suchopar has gone above and beyond to make my daughter feel valued, safe, and successful. He has motivated her and encouraged her to be her best self.” Mr. Suchopar is truly a reflective teacher who continues to strive for excellence and to be there for his students. As a parent, Ms. Cestaro stated “Mr. Suchopar is the teacher we all hope our children are fortunate enough to have.”
