CHS' Peter Myers Appointed to State Financial Literacy Advisory Committee

Commack truly is paving the way for financial literacy curriculum to be implemented throughout the state.
The latest example: CHS financial literacy teacher Peter Myers has been appointed as a member of the New York State Education Department’s Financial Literacy Advisory Committee.
The New York State Education Department Office of Standards and Instructional Plans is striving to transform education in New York State.
As part of the initial phase of the New York Inspires Plan, consistent with recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Commission of Graduation Measures, the department is proposing requirements for financial literacy education for all students in the state, effective for the 2026-27 school year.
“As a committee member, I will work with educators across the state to provide expert advisement and support to inform guidance on the implementation of high-quality financial literacy instruction in P-12 schools,” Myers said.
Commack’s impact on state education will also be felt Wednesday, when CHS student leaders as well as superintendent Dr. Jordan Cox and district administrators visit Albany to meet with state representatives as well as education officials.
