CMS Students To Perform in 'Nutcracker' at Hofstra’s John Cranford Adams Playhouse
A trio of Commack Middle School students will be featured actors in performances of “The Nutcracker” to be held at Hofstra University’s John Cranford Adams Playhouse.
CMS students Amari B., Anna C. and Alyssa T. will have leading roles alongside New York City Ballet stars Erica Pereira and Daniel Ulbricht.
Amari, a seventh grader, is one of two girls sharing the central role of Clara. Anna and Alyssa, both sixth graders, share the role of Clara’s brother Fritz, who breaks Clara’s Nutcracker and sets the plot in motion.
Each CMS student is performing in two of the four shows.
The shows will take place Dec. 21 and 22, each day at noon and 5 p.m.
This year’s cast also includes Commack students Priya C., Devyn C., Claire D., Isabella F., Anna G., Isabel G., Sofia G., Marilyn I., Samara K., Valentina L., Elizabeth P., Isabella S., Nina V. and Irene V.
The girls, who train at the Ohman School of Ballet in Commack, will perform multiple roles in the iconic holiday story ballet. The roles include children in the party scene, toy soldiers and mice in the battle scene, snowflakes, angels, and various confections in the Land of Sweets.
The production is presented by Commack-based New York Dance Theatre.
