Commack Contributes to Hurricane Relief
The Commack community continues to show it cares.
Local residents dropping off supplies to be shipped to the hurricane-affected Southeast were greeted with thank yous from superintendent Dr. Jordan Cox and state senator Mario Mattera at the Commack Fire Department on Wednesday.
Mattera, himself, dropped off a several cases of bottled water as well as paper towels.
The Commack Fire Department, located at 6309 Jericho Tpke., continues to accept donations from community members of new blankets, medical supplies, first-aid kids, manual can openers, nonperishable food, baby diapers, wipes, bottles and formula, pet food, toiletries, cleaning products, hand sanitizer, paper plates and cups, plastic cutlery, paper towels, trash bags and batteries.
The collection effort was spearheaded by district clerk Debbie Virga in a collaboration between the school district and fire department.
